PRINCE2® 2 Day Practitioner

Course Outline

 

Overview

Officially launched in October 1996, PRINCE2® is the method used for planning and managing projects in the public and private sectors both in the UK and internationally.  The method is used for a wide variety and size of projects. PRINCE2® is universally accepted as best practice project management.


Designed For

The Practitioner Workshop is designed for anyone who has already attended and passed the Foundation Event and needs to, or may need to in the future, apply PRINCE2® to the running and managing of a non-complex project within an environment supporting PRINCE2®.


Course Material

Delegates attending this event will be issued with the latest copy of the PRINCE2® Practitioner Assistant.

All other documentation including the OGC PRINCE2® Manual should be brought to the event by the delegate.

Pre-course work:

This event does not require any pre-course work to be completed by delegates. It is advisable though that delegates commit some time aside to revise over the foundation course material, pre-event CD and OGC PRINCE2® Manual.

PRINCE2® Practitioner Assistant (For Practitioner delegates only)

This booklet provides guidance on the Practitioner exam. Included are sample scenarios with various styles of practitioner Objective Test questions to help prepare for the Practitioner exam. This event does not require any pre-course work to be completed by delegates. It is advisable though that delegates commit some time aside to revise over the foundation course material and the OGC PRINCE2® Manual.


Course Benefits

Following the course Delegates will understand the PRINCE2® method and will be able to organise, plan and control projects quickly and effectively in accordance with the PRINCE2® Methodology. Senior Managers attending the course will be able to make decisions on project initiation and continuation on the basis of hard facts provided in a structured format.

Introduction to Preparation for the Practitioner Examination

Overview, Principles & Tailoring of PRINCE2 to the project environment

  • How to tailor the application of PRINCE2 relevant to the size, complexity, risk and importance of a project scenario
  • Evaluation of the tailored application of PRINCE2 in a project scenario

Themes

  • How to apply and tailor the relevant aspects of the PRINCE2 themes to a project scenario when creating products or making decisions related to the themes, in any or all of the processes
  • Evaluation of the appropriateness of the application of the PRINCE2 themes throughout the life-cycle of a project scenario

Processes

  • How to apply the PRINCE2 processes, tailoring the recommended activities and actions where appropriate, to a project scenario
  • Evaluation of the application of the PRINCE2 processes to a project scenario, by assessing whether relevant activities of the processes were correctly applied

Examination Procedure -  Hints & Tips

The actual topics covered may be varied by the Trainer to reflect current and topical examination questions and to reflect the needs of each group of delegates.


Approach

This event is very intensive and highly participative, a mixture of input and practical sessions, delivered by an APM Group approved trainer. All trainers have practical experience of PRINCE2®. Practical sessions are on an individual and team basis and feature throughout the event.

Please note: You are required to successfully complete and pass the Foundation examination before you may sit for the Practitioner paper.

The Practitioner exam is an open-book objective testing format exam, consisting of 9 questions with a total of 108 marks to be completed within 2.5 hours. Candidates need to achieve a mark of 59 (55%) or more to pass.

This event is held over two days and includes the Practitioner examination.
